Game Face

I see this face every single day. This is Sam's game face.
The game, of course, is chess.
The following is an actual transcript of...well, every single day.
*****
Sam: Can we play chess now, Mom? I'm all done with my school work.
Me: Uhhhhh...
Sam: You promised!
Me: Okay, but just so you know, I am going to win! You're going down!
Sam: [Game Face]

Then, as often as not, he proceeds to beat me at chess.

Chess rules. Especially when you have a partner you like playing. Ashley doesn't seem to like it. Good thing she's cute.

Get that man some chess-life magazine action. And watch "searching for bobby fischer." Good times.

He is actually getting signed up for a homeschooling chess class for 8 weeks, one hour a week. Then he will take you on, Grant. He's already beat Dad a couple of times when Archie was not paying good enough attention. Don't underestimate him and get all lazy.

PS. Dad says you should not play chess with your wife. He didn't want to play chess with me and I found out why. He is way too competitive and aggressive of a player. This is not for fun, this is for winning!!!!

For the record, I have no problem with chess. But I am pretty sure he'd thrash me.

But LOVE that game face! Way to go, Sam!!

The first family I was a nanny for had an eight-year-old who beat me at chess in 3 moves, no lie. He was a little chess prodigy.

Awesome face. hehe. You gotta catch his "I'm winning" giggle, though. I hear that all the time when I'm talking to you on the phone (and distracting you, of course, otherwise you'd be beating him!)
